or you can scrunch it since it is only shoulder length. Curling would be too drastic i think. Just put some mouse and product in and scrunch it like you would scrunch up a piece of paper.

once it gets to about an inch or two past your shoulders, do some loose curls with a smaller barell curling iron and let them wave out and you'll have really pretty waves in your hair.

do a cute little high pony tail with a ribbon around it.

If you want to be fun and out there, go choppy unless you have thick hair. My favorite updos are pigtails that hang by your neck (not pippy longstocking), side ponytail and messy bun. For your age, the best way to mix it up is accessories. Hair clips and headbands were my favorite at that age.

If you are a pre-teen its likely that your parents arn't going to want to shell out a ton of money for you to change your hairstyle. You can try some temporary ideas in the mean time!

Try taking the front section of your hair (the parts that would normally be in front of a headband if you were to wear one) and divide into three parts. You will need 3 bobby pins for it. Take the first section, divide that into two side by side sections and tie them in a knot. Then pull the ends back and secure the knot with a bobby pin (or two depending on your hair). Continue with the other two pieces so you have 3 or 4 knots, almost like a headband on your head. You can leave your hair down at this point and straighten it, or pull it all back into some sort of pony tail or updo. Its cute and fun and doesn't take much time to do.

Another idea is to braid the front area. I used to do this in my early teens and it looked super cute! You will need to know how to do a french braid for this one, or have a parent or friend do it for you.

You can ask the person who does your hair to thin out your hair a little bit and put layers into it and it wont be as thick. Also, using a good shapoo and conditioner for frizzy/poofy hair will reduce the "bigness" of your hair.

My hair is wavy and I have it layered. The longest layer is below the middle of my back. The shortest layer is just below my shoulders. They can layer you hair any length you want. If you don't want it thick at the bottom be sure to tell the stylist when you get it cut. My hair is so thick and the last time I had mine cut the woman cut it so that it would be thicker at the bottom. She was new and didn't know what I liked. I sure wish that I'd told her.

Hey i have wavy hair. I got layers in college and it was terrible. I had to paste my hair with mousse and gel so that it didn't have fly aways. I waited till it grew a little and then cut it to one level. only way you can work with layers is for straight hair (unfortunately) if you can blow dry straight everyday it can work. But if not it will get puffy and have lots or flyaways.

Yes, go to a hair stylist for them. As far as length, I have long wavy hair. My shortest layer is at my shoulder and they look really pretty when my hair is down. So, you definitely could get them and they would look good! It will take some of the weight off your head, too, if you struggle with headaches. I did, and just getting layers was enuf off to help reduce the weight of my hair. Good luck and hope your mum lets you get them!:-)

i have wavy hair just like yours and i tried that whole layered look and it didnt work out. trust me. in the front of my head a the hair line of the middle part, it started poofing out like a water fountain. the layers u could barley see! the wavyness just covers that up! and wen u ponytail ur hair not all of it stays up unless u get long layers. but no point of a haircut if u just get it styled!

I have the same hair type as you, if you want your hair thinned out then layers worked for me, tell your hair dresser that you want the layers to make your hair thinner, because alot of volume comes back once you've washed your hair, i think they look really good. If you are unsure about what your parents will say, don't get lots of layers and show them a picture of what you want done.

This is what I do: When I get out of the shower and my hair is still wet, I spray some detangling spray in it and brush it out. Then I apply an antifrizz cream and work that through. Then I take a handful out mousse and scrunch it into my hair. Then I clip all my hair in a big clip on the top of my head so that its all scrunched. Every once in a while, unclip it and scrunch it by hand, then clip it back up and leave it.

I have naturally straight hair, and this gives my hair nice waves. Its also a lot less damaging than using a curling iron.

the best thing to wear with black hair and fair skin is deep rose coloured lipsticks with a lip liner and understated eye make up, neutral or very pale pink eyeshadow other wise if you have dark heavy makeup it will look too much and too cheap looking. ok so what type of dye was used, if it is a rinse 8 washes a semi permanent 24 washes and a permanent has to grow out. oh dear...if its not permanent it might take a month or so. If it is permant you are screwed! I just had to bleach my hair twice to dye it again to brown! Killed my hair. ask ur hairdresser about perm solution. i have heard that if you run it through ur hair it should take out most of the dark pigment. although i wouldn't recommend doing this by urself lol! as far as make up keep it simple. the hair is very strong so try pale lip gloss a little bronzer on ur face and a light eyeshadow . and always wear mascara! good luck.

i colored my hair maghongy red on saturday, its only a semi which washes out up 28 washes ! ive washed it loads on sunday like 6 shampoos and then i conditioned it but its still hanging in there. So i went to the hairdressers today to try and get rid of this awful colour and i went for another semi its a dark ash brown to try and get rid of the manky colour which it kinda has but its still there. if i wash my hair will it come out? cos im really scared that its gonna stay in my hair !! any ideas on how to get this crappy colour out? i like the brown ash but it looks stupid cos of the red colour. Please help cos its getting me down

My hair is just too poofy for my liking. I take showers at night, and I can't take them in the morning because my mom won't let me go to school with wet hair. I can't blow dry it because my hair is so thick that it takes an hour and a half to dry. All I can do is straighten and put products in my hair. Any ideas? Thanks!

ok first you need to make sure you have enough moisture in your hair. Here's what I recomend, use Warmed Olive oil, coconut, or avacado oil, completely coat your hair, put it up in a loose bun..... HAIR MUST BE DRY TO APPLY!....... cover with a shower cap. then use a towel warmed in the dryer and wrap it up turban style. leave on up to 1 hour.

to wash out..... first rinse with warm(hot) water as hot as you can stand, then use a tiny bit of shampoo (moisturizing) on your roots only. follow with a good conditioner, through all your hair...... it will not be greasy, I promise.

then let your hair dry, in the morning.... LIGHTLY spritz it with water... preferably with your head tipped upsid down....

then.... (you can do this with really wet hair, or spritzed and damp)...............Pin up the top section of your hair and use the round brush to blowdry your hair. Hold the hair sections out taut and point the hairdryer down to dry it. Do this section by section, so that your hair is completely dry. You may want to then dry up the hair, from the neck to the end of the strands. This makes it easier to get the hair on the back of the head.

If you have decided to use a hair straightener, put your hair into sections again, and run over your hair with the straightener. Grip one section of hair. Clamp the flat iron onto the top portion of the section. Slowly, move the iron down your hair. Repeat up to three times.

Brush hair, and finish off with a small amount of serum.

Tips

Before you get out of the shower, rinse your hair with cold water. This will make your hair extra shiny!

When blowdrying your hair, make sure the hairdryer is pointing down, so that all the hair folicles point down, which equals super shiny hair, which is the look we're going for! Also, before blow-drying, consider applying a heat protection spray.

Don't use too much hair serum or hair products, because you don't want your hair to look lank and greasy.

Some good products to try: Chi Silk Infusion or Redken Smooth Down, Nexxus Heat Protexx.

If your hair is fragile, use a low setting on the iron. If it's thick and unruly, make the heat almost the hottest it can be.

Warnings

Don't brush your hair when it's wet, because it stretches and breaks the hair. Always use a wide-toothed comb.

If you're in a rush and need to dry your hair, don't take the easy way out and use your hair straightner when it's wet. See that steam coming out? It dries out your hair. Always use a hairdryer prior to straightening.

ALWAYS use heat protection spray or else your hair will get damaged from straightener.

Oh, yes I remember my poof. When I was in 6-10th grade, my hair just did this thing where it became one mass, grew it's own circulatory system and did whatever the hell it wanted. It seemed like there was nothing I could do. Actually, there was very little I could do. I don't know how old you are, but if you are a teenager, take heart, your hair will eventually calm down and become more obedient. In the meantime:

1)Use good conditioner. I love Finesse, their curl moisturizing conditioner is awesome, and it doesn't cost too much, $4 a bottle is what I pay.

2)How attached are you to the length of your hair? My hair became infinitely more manageable when I cut it up to my chin. The curls had less weight to support or something, I don't know exactly why it helped, but they became more defined and less frizzy.

3)use a hair product for getting rid of frizz made for curly hair. anti-frizz things for straight hair like frizz-ease are too heavy for curls and will just flatten them out and grease them up. Good bets are L'Oreal Pumping Curls gel or spray, they really help keep the frizz down. Just don't use too much or you'll get crunchy curls, which I think is just as bad as frizz.

4)wash your hair at night or in the morning, comb it while wet with a wide-toothed comb, and then leave it. Don't brush it again, don't pull at the curls, if you have to style it in the morning (if you shower at night) just muss it with your fingers a little, don't run a brush through it, though. If you separate the curls that want to form with a brush or comb when it is dry the curls will rebel and become a frizzy kinda messy flattish yet oddly poofy thing. I've been there, it's not pretty.

Okay seriously hair gel! Suave makes some really good curly hair products that don't make your hair hard. It can be smooth and not frizzy *there is hope, lol* Also Herbel Essence also has a really good product but unless you put some sort of smoother with it, it will make your curls hard!! Suave is probably your best bet!! Hope that helps =)

My best friend has the same problem. Believe it or not she uses a product called Mane and Tail. It can be found in most stores hair care sections, lowest shelf, yellow and white label I think. Now she has long flowing gorgeous curls like you see at the Oscars...Try a K-Mart or Meijers. I also thinks she uses her fingers or a pick--never a comb--it just separates the hair more accentuating the individual curls instead of getting them to work together.

You can try a relaxer. They are available everywhere. This will calm the curvy/waviness of it enough to style how you want it. Also try something called Lustre's. It is in a pink bottle it smoothes out the hair. After you style it how you want it, use gel, hairspray, or mousse to keep it where it is. If your hair still rebels, than try a weave or braids.

Easy. Right after shower, don't blowdry it completely. Half it, then put light gel or mouse all over it, and flatten it with your hands to prevent all the frizz coming out of it. Split on the side, not the middle. Then hairspray it a little. Look at Debra Messing's character on Will and Grace. She can pull it off so can you! :)

OR.. a much better preferred way would be:

Use a ceramic flat iron to straighten it out. But before you do that, make sure you use conditioner when you're washing it. Then use a lil oil to make it look shiny so when you flat iron it, it won't give the dryness look. Once it's straightened, you will have perfectly "poofy" hair minus the flat and frizzy look. I wish I had wavy hair so I don't have to worry about flatness. Ugh.

Getting hair thinned... good idea?

I have really thick long (mid back) hair. LOTS of it. It always tangles, gets everywhere, looks wild... i want to keep my hair long but is it a good idea to thin it? What do hair stylists do when they thin your hair? do they pull it out or something... no that sounds really stupid but seriously how do they do it? i colored my hair maghongy red on saturday, its only a semi which washes out up 28 washes ! ive washed it loads on sunday like 6 shampoos and then i conditioned it but its still hanging in there. So i went to the hairdressers today to try and get rid of this awful colour and i went for another semi its a dark ash brown to try and get rid of the manky colour which it kinda has but its still there. if i wash my hair will it come out? cos im really scared that its gonna stay in my hair !! any ideas on how to get this crappy colour out? i like the brown ash but it looks stupid cos of the red colour. Please help cos its getting me down

been there done that quite a few times actually. dont keep washing it too many times in a day. its not good for you hair. it will wash out eventually. its only hair it will grow back to normal.

Add a few highlights, not only bleach...but add lowlights like some mild red tones. Let your colorist know that you want dimension and you want to use several colors...a good colorist will show you swatches and take time to listen to you. Unfortunately, just because a salon has a reputable name does not mean all of their employees are great. A good way to find a colorist is to go to a salon and have a "mild" haircut and ask the stylist who they would recommend. If you like your haircut, then you should be safe with who they refer you to.

I have to say this to everyone who wants to dye their hair. Do you think there is a reason dye and die sound so much alike? There is so many harmful chemicals in that crap. No wonder people are dropping like flies from cancer. If you can't eat it why would you want to put it on your skin?

i would get peek a boo chunks like 3 inches under you part all around it. that way, the bold will peek through, also, sometimes it looks good around the templs hidden behind about an inch. this looks really good with layers

If you want to go platinum, consult a very good colorist. You probably should not do it yourself. Do not shop by price. Go to an upscale salon. If you try to go platinum blonde at home, you will likely get light orange or a yucky shade of yellow . You'll probably damage your hair and it may end up looking trashy. You will get the best results at home if you select a semi-permanent, dark ash brown to tone down the red for now.

i am trying to grow out my blonde highlights. I am trying to match to my root colour which is light brown and have tried dying hair with semi perms in dark blonde and light brown. But each time i use them i keep getting horrible red/brassy tones. Is it just that i am not using a dark enough colour or what?

its good that it came out like that because if i didnt have the red tint i would have stayed brown for a bit and fade to a swampy brown with a green tint and if your unlucky it would eventully turn green in some parts. [ the red cancells out the green ]

if i was you id dye over your red brown hair with the medium brown you bought. but look at the color it would turn on your hair color atm or if not

your probs best off using a ash brown which is a much cooler shade of brown.

your best to figure out how long it will take you to save up enough money to pay a professional to dye over it...

I know you can't afford it but saving up to get it done professionally will save your hair from damage that is caused by using too many home kits......

I'm sorry but you'll have to live with it until that day at the salon....

a month before you can afford it go %26amp; get the dye tested behind your ear (the allergy test) so when you can afford it you are ready to get it done...

Beachy curly - Dry hair straight, with roll brush, with some lift spray at the roots then grab 1 inch pieces of hair (start at the bottom layer and work up layer by layer) and just wrap it around the curling iron barrel (not using the mouth of it) hold on medim-high heat for 15-20 seconds. Alternating directions looks best. Spray with shine spray for a more 'put together look' or sea salt spray for a more 'beachy fun' look.

(Too curly? Just use 2-3 inch pieces and just curl the bottom 4 inches for a more loose look and hold for the same amount of time)

Classy look - Blow dry straight with brush/comb (so it's more flat) part way over (about over right eye) and part at an angle going toward your center part but not too much. Depending on what shape face you have do the same type of curl (around the barrel) but start it about your jaw line and wrap around the back of the barrel. Dont alternate. Use 2 inch pieces of hair. Spray with shine spray.

for about 5 days a small section of my scalp hurts...but it only hurts if I lightly touch my hair over the area..if I press on the area hard or rub it, it doesn't..only if I lightly rub the hair...any ideas? no rash or dandruff

You are probably suffering from a mild case of sensitive scalp. People don't tend to realize that your scalp is skin too. In fact, it is very sensitive skin. Using harsh hair products can easily cause irritation. Even exposure to the sun or heat from tanning beds can irritate the scalp. Look into what products you are using on your hair and you might find the source of the problem. Chemicals like relaxers and perms ca do severe damage to your scalp if applied incorrectly. I have heard that if you sleep on a satin pillow it helps. What I do also is just pile my hair on top of my head in a very loose ponytail and then in the morning take a round brush and brush it gently the ends only. Spray with hairspray LIGHTLY.

My hair is naturally curly-wavy. I always straighten because I hate having to put mousse to harden it to get it curly. If I don't do anything I get lose waves. Although I have been straightening my hair for the past 8 years, I'm getting tired but I don't seem to find a way to leave my natural wavy hair down without frizz and puff. I want to know how I can put my hair at night after the shower so that I don't wake up with bed head. It's cold I will have to blow dry before bed. Everytime I go to bed with wet or barely dry hair I wake up like a lion but I don't want to shower in the morning and leave the house with wet hair. Any ideas? Thanks

Ok here is what I do(in order)

-Wash my hair(conditioner shampoo)

-Put in leave in conditioner

-Blowdry my hair stick straight

-Fix the bumps and kinks

-Brush 100 times

-Then I just sleep normally but keep the hair on the side of the pillow(and straight)DO NOT sleep on your hair or it will be bumpy

-Mornings I take the flat iron and fix the bumps and brush it and its fine!

I know it seems like alot but it really is worth it and it really isnt all that much.Try it maybe you'll like it.

i have black hair %26amp; i love wearing like neutral colors (on clothes) with very colorful accesories! %26amp; a matching eyeshadow, of course depends on the ocassion.

I'm kind of pale too, black hair makes you look even more %26amp; redness in face stands out more!, so powder %26amp; blush is a total must! whatever brand, just a pink one, not so peachy.. i use yellow concelear %26amp; mac powder-make up, it's not like the normal powder that fades out very soon.. %26amp; it really helps for zits %26amp; under my eyes , i can't live without it =]

For my eyes i use a pencil eyeliner, they're easier to handle %26amp; it gives a more dramatic look, but i really love eyeliner!! %26amp; tons of mascara, revlon really makes my eyelashes look extra long!! the one that's a little brush, i dont remember the name anyways i think you'll like the change, i love my hair black!!

i am not sure of your age....but there is a website that you can go to and it will help you with a virtual makeover online.

as for color.....i have a pale complexion, dark brown almost black hair and the same t-zone and issues. i use arbonne...clear advantage skin care....and then they have a mineral powder foundation which is magical...and great because the powder doesn't feel oily...and they have the best concealer that i have ever used..bar none. also, for old blemishes..and scars...you can use the eye cream....and over time it will fade those spots....no lie!!

first of all, foundation when you have not so great skin doesnt really help. It can have minerals that your skin has negative reactions to. Base makeup can also clog your pores- because when you have a breakout you try to cover it (i do this) and it only creates an added buildup of oil to that area. Your best bet is to take care of your skin first-- proactiv is the only thing that i would say really works. Also, this may sound a little crazy, Rose Salve. its orginally a balm for your lips, but it works wonders for blemishes on your face and dry flaky skin. Its also good for your cuticles, knees, and elbows. But it is really good stuff! Gray eyes are usually really intense, and so is black hair-- so you may want to take it easy on the makeup. Eyeliner may look too intense with dark hair and light eyes and fair skin, so instead, opt for a neutral beige shadow and thick lashes. Dark lashes are an eye opener, and make your eyes pop far more than eyeliner does. Voluminous mascara from L'Oreal is AMAZING. I can honestly say that it makes your eyelashes thick and fluffy but not clumpy whatsoever. And for your lips try a sheer berry shade. Clinique berry lipstick is really sheer and GORGEOUS on fair skin. Don't worry about your skin in the meanwhile- just start yourself on a regular skincare routine so that you can take care of your acne and prevent new scars. Mederma can also be good for existing scars. hope i could help! =)

Well, now that you have black hair, I would go with a light shade a blue and don't put to much on. Also, for your face, I would recomend Neutrogena. I gets all of the dirt ans acne on your face and if u have some like, pimples on your arms, it treats that to. And, no matter what, do use any eyeliner! It would just ruin everything. And for a quick tan, Dove Energy Glow. you'll want to use use it every 4-5 days in the week.you'll have an even tan and you'll look beautiful.

my daughter put her hair in small twisted strands and you twist them until they are a small round ball that looks like a flower and then you pit a pin in each one and when you are done they look like a bunch of roses on the back of your head. she then put baby's breath and it looked incredible. now when I go to work I pull my hair back into twists and I get complimented every time. it is easy and looks very clean and romantic for evening and pretty for day too.

wow..that may be a problem, but at the end of the day (if you are an adult) it is up to you. you don't get to control what people think or will say about you, they always will have the pros and the cons...but you can do what makes you happy. ask yourself why you want this hair cut so badly and what you would benefit from it at the end of the day?, ask your parents why they care so much about what the family would say ?(this is not about them, who cares what they think), ask your mum what would it hurt to have your hair cut?, tell her why you want it so badly. (would she not do anything to make u both happy?...yes..then this makes you happy so she chould really consider. there is no crime .

As for trust from parents, you gain it... you just dont get it, and for all my life i can tell you it's very hard to gain but try to be more responsible and maybe they'll give you slack. ask them what they are so afraid of. (as for me my mum hated when i wanted to go out because she was afraid that i would get pregnant, my dad was just afraid of loosing his "little girl". sigh* (no im not little. haha). proove to them that you are both responsible, (and act responsible, actions speak louder than words).

First off, do not do any tricks, first it effects you negatively, and second, your parents will probably find out.

Secondly, Not being able to cut your hair is not the end of the world. Wait until you are indipendant and politely petition them occasionally when you are not yet indipendant. A good way to petition is say that the hair keeps the boys away, or difficult to manage with your schedule.

Thirdly, family customs are important, and while you may not appreciate them, you may find more appreciation later. You may regret giving up on the hair.

Remember, getting your hair cut can be done for the rest of your life and is easy. Making up with your mom and dad is not easy and God forbid something happen and you haven't yet made up.

Highlights are strands of you hair dyed a lighter color tha tyour origanal hair color. I do not know what frosted is , sorry. Tips are you tips of you hair dyed to any color of your choice.

For your hair I would recomend 2 shades lighter of borwn or auburn. Just a tip, get you highlights about a half-inch wide. Not too thin or think. It's better to have natural looking highlights than noticable dyed ones.

I know it may be alot but if you take care of your hair it will grow back fast. Now it depends on what type of hair you have. I stopped doing this and my hair is growing like a weed.

You need to buy a professional protein treatment from a salon. They cost more than shop shampoo's but fix your hair. Mine used to break off in little pieces it got so dry. I went to my salon and they sold me stuff that penetrates the hair shaft. Now I have the BEST hair ever... AND I can still use my GHD's.

I would go to my salon and pay a few extra dollars for them to use their heavy duty conditioner and repair stuff on your hair. the stuff they use will strip your hair, repair as much damage as it can and add moisture to your hair, I have had it done, plan on hanging out at the salon for a few hours and look at being about 100.00 poorer but it is worth it. After you have that done have them cut the unrepairable damage out, don't worry it may take a bit but your hair grows back and much more healthier. If you really don't have the money to have a professional do it, hot oil treatments and a hair masque will help out, but you will still need to get the really badly damaged stuff cut off.

instead of just washing out my conditioner in the shower i leave it in for a few hours %26amp; then wash it out or i use Neutrogena Triple Moisture deep recovery hair mask , it was only like $10 at walmart.

Sounds like you will need to give yourself a hair treatment to replenish some of the moisture in your hair which you have dried out from the straightening!

It's best to spend that little bit extra for a quality product because you will definitely notice a difference than if you use a cheaper product. Some of my favourite brands are redken, keratase %26amp; bedhead. They all have many treatments in their range just look for one that promises to 'moisturise'. Even though they may say leave it on for 25 minutes or so, the longer it's left on the better. If you do this u will immediately notice the difference in the look and feel of your hair!

Also before your straighten your hair now, you should use a heat protection product and your hair will get nowhere as near damanged and it will deliver a frizz free, silky result :)

1) Get the ends trimmed.

2) Get a good, hair repair Shampoo and Conditioner. (I recommend L'Oreal Professional, Absolute Repair.)

3) Get an Intensive Conditioner (Like Lange' Panthenol ELASTIN protein PAK ) Before you wash your hair, coat it in this conditioner and leave it on for at least 15 minutes. (I sometimes sleep in it and wash my hair in the morning.) Do this once a week until you see results, and then begin doing it once a month.

4) Before you dry your hair, spray a repair/protectant spray (Wella Liquid Hair Restructurizer is the BEST!) This will repair AND protect from future damage.
