My friends 2 year old got into a tub of vasoline and rubbed pretty much all of it in her hair?? any ideas?

Ok..Listen..I have had Vaseline in my hair once too.

Ok...Use a Towel to wipe or rub off most of the vaseline as you can (gently now) you will only have a residue remaining, then use either dishwashing liquid to remove the rest, or if that does not work, use a lot of cream rinse, This will dilute the vaseline enough for a shampoo to get rid of the rest.

If all else fails Use Lava hand soap, That works for sure

The best thing to do would be to put that kid in a bubble bath made from regular dish soap. You may have to use quite a bit but dish soap will definately do the trick!

Don't wet it . Put shampoo in it and rub it in until it goes white and soapy, then wash it all out and she will have lovely shiny clean hair. (the shampoo acts as an emulsifier and bonds with the Vaseline making it really easy to get out).

soap and warm water for her hair, watch her for difficulty breathing. I had seen on Oprah years ago about a toddler that had gotten to baby oil and played with it, the parents didn't realize he had inhaled some of it...anything oily like that can clog the air sacs in your lungs, tragically the toddler died. Not trying to freak you out, just letting you know be aware, cause it was not something I would have thought of before I saw that show.

you need to use a clarifying shampoo nothing like a 2 in 1 or what would be better is washing up liquid or soap as they are a stronger detergent. you will have to do it quite few times to get it out.

The only way to remove Vaseline from hair is to saturate the hair in baby oil, rub in through the hair completely, then squeeze out as much as you can. Then wash the hair three times with Dawn dish soap and hot water (not hot enough to burn!), each time leaving the dish soap on for a few minutes to allow it to work.

Use a towel to get all the excess off the hair. Put the shampoo on the hair BEFORE any water touches the hair, as the water will sit ontop of the hair and will be impossible to get off. Lather it up the best you can with dry hair, then rinse and repeat.
