I have a pageant i'm doing and i know i want to curl my hair....?

but i want it to have volume and look really good, i don't want it to look like a stringy rats nest, i have to be there really early so i won't have time to go and get my hair done, and my mom won't be able to come, i have really long thick hair, i want to achieve a look that is voluminous curly and cute, and i am wearing my hair down.....ideas!!!

http://www.cjshoppingmall.com/images/swi... is what i use, they don't take long to put in, and you just toast them up, put them in, wait for them to cool and take them out. divide the curls into three or four and run them between your fingers, twirling them up, with a bit of shine serum on your fingers. but you might want to practice first. you also might need more than one lot of sticks, or do your hair in two parts. i have bra-strap length hair and it takes about ten mins to put them in, twenty to cool (whilst you're running around doing other things), and five to arrange.

depending how hot you let them get, and what products you put in your hair, and how clean it is (leave it dirty for 24-36 hours for shirley temple ringlets or clean for loose ones, i usually find washing it the night before is best) you end up with different tightness of the curls. Using a styling lotion will make them last longer, but they'll be tighter. Good luck!

experiment beforehand. try sleeping with curlers in, or sleeping with your hair in little buns.
