You may have build-up from styling products and conditioning shampoos in that particular section.

The best clarifying shampoo is Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo. (http://www.neutrogena.com/productsdetail... It is available at drugstores and really works without completely stripping your hair.

Use it at least one a week. You can follow with a light conditioner. Try to skip using hair styling products a few times a week. Jojoba oil is a good way to tame fly aways. It is non-comedogenic and will condition your hair. Just put a tiny drop in the palm of your hand and rub them together before smoothing it through your hair. It washes out easily too. I prefer the Desert Essence brand and get it at Trader Joe's for a good price. (www.desertessence.com)

You may also consider switching from a 2 in 1 product as most people complain of build up when using them often.

You should also be sure to distribute styling products evenly throughout your hair. Put a small amount of product in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together and work the product through from back to front. Then arrange your style.

Try a shampoo thats made specifially for that problem, like Sunsilk, or Garnier Fructis. Or try blow drying that spot and see it that works. Good luck..

I use 2 different brands of shampoos, one week with one, then switch to the other for a week. It prevents the build-up that you can get from using the same one all the time.

You can also try using a handheld shower head to rinse with, it is easier to get all of the conditioner out and keeps the cold water off of your body.

Also, you may be using too much conditioner. I have very long (down to my butt) hair and I only use about an egg-yolk sized dollop of conditioner, only on the bottom half of my hair.

Good luck!!

make sure your hair is free of styling products (mix a little baking soda with your shampoo and wash make sure you rinse your conditioner well) sprinkle a little baby powder on the dry, greasy area and brush out until you can't see powder (use fingers if you don't brush)

hmm... that's interesting... check to see if this section of your scalp has a waxy patch of seborrhea? kind of like dandruff? if not and it's not irritated you can use dishwashing liquid, like Dawn or Joy, on dry hair and scalp... just like they do for animals caught in oil slicks... this will cut through any wax or pomade that may be causing the problem... if it is a scalp problem then treating scalp with Selson shampoo may help, if this doesn't help see a dermatologist

remember to apply the detergent to dry hair to cut through it because if you add water first that is a barrier and will take longer.

just curious, is this the side you sleep on?
