What products do i need to do this hair style?

I just got this shag hair cut, and it's supposed to be cute and piecey. See picture: http://i.ivillage.com/BS/spring06package...

My hair is thick and slightly wavy--so it is not looking like this on me at all. Any hair product ideas or tips would be a great help. Thanks!

i also have thick hair, but the woman in the picture looks like she has very fine hair. I dont have that hairstyle, but you should definately straighten/blowdry your hair if you can and then put moose or gel in it to make it piecy and give it texture. It also looks like she teased it at the top to give it some volume, but you may already have that since your hair is thick. Hairspray will also help to old the style. If you have/get natural looking highlights that will also look good with that style.

( just a tip.. if you need to get hair product out of your hair use baking soda with that shampoo. it will help keep this stuff from building up on your hair. )

ha sorry one more thing. Garnier fructis has this hair wax and its in a flatish and round green bottle. It will work really well for this hairstyle and garnier products work well on thick hair.

straighten it or blowdry and put wax in it to shape it

you'll need a straightener definately. i had the same problem with my new haircut. i had hair to my waist and cut it to my shoulder blades andit got curly and poofy. my straightener saved it. if you don't want to fry your hair daily, try "herbal essences "dangerously straight" its in a pink bottle and you can get it at target. i haven't tried it myself, but it might work. also, my hair wasn't layered enough to give it a really shaggy look, so i told my friend how the stylist had done it, and she trimmed it up and did a pretty good job. if you decide to straighten your hair, and you have thicker hair, straighten it with your layers, starting with the bottom one. it gives it a "piecey" or separated look.

You'll definately need a wax. It'll make your hair look smoother and keep it in place. You should moisturize it too with a deep conditioner or mask to help your hair to be lighter so that you can style it easier. :)
