Has anyone ever noticed their hair is two different colors?

I have waist long hair that is natural %26amp; has never been dyed. I just noticed the other day that the last 3 inches are lighter %26amp; reddish compared with the rest of my dark hair. Any ideas why this would be? My personal therory is that it changed color when I had my baby?

Hair adjusts to many bodily and season changes. Your theory may be correct. Actually my hair is three different colors. Blond on top, light brown and dark brown.

It could be that but it probably is from the sun bleaching it. Like my friend she kept her hair color natural for the longest time and then decided to dye it red. when she did the strip of hair where she kept it in a pony tail was lighter because it was always in the sun.

that's not that uncommon. my aunt had hair that went from light brown at its roots to whiteblond at its tips, no dye or bleach. some hair just loses its color as it gets older.

one of the reasons may be that the ends are split or damaged, and so more light is passing through them.

In darker hair such as brunette and black the sun can cause a natural fading that would cause your hair to bring out red highlights. I'm a brunette and always get a reddish tint to the top layers of my hair in the summer. I hate it but I'm not sure what to do about it except color it.
