Is permanently straightening my hair a good idea?

I want to get my hair permanently straightened. Someone told me that it makes your hair frizz and fall out. Is that true? My hair is wavy and my grandma would do it, she's a beautician. Do you think this is a good idea? I need someone who has actually had it done to them, not someone who has just heard things but never actually seen it happen.

I've had a straightener in my hair for a couple of decades now (I'm a bit older than you are).

My hair was down to the middle of my back...so hair that is straighten does grown.

Now, if you don't do weekly deep hair treatment, your hair will get dry and will be weak.

I have a friend (from Spain) and she gets a Korean perm (to straighten the hair) and her hair was very long until she cut it.

Just make sure you grandma knows how to apply the product or save some money and go see a professional.

My advice to you and like your family member I am also a beautician, is only you can decide if you should or not. Please keep in mind once you chemically straighten your hair, as it goes out...... the new growth will be wavy or curly like it is naturally. you could end up with a line. Picture hair two inches from scalp, wavy curly and the rest say 6 inches hanging straight. It would be like coloring it does have some constant up keep. Your hair won't fall out unless it is already overly processed from hot irons, flat irons or color ect, or if you leave the straighter on too long. Also 2 out of 5 people who do chemically straighten their hair, try to curl it with a curling iron and it won't. Good luck..

actually i tried it before....for me its a bad idea..don't straighten your hair because it will cause damage, maybe at first it will look beautiful but as the day goes by..the hair will become dry and frizzy and also it can cause your hair to fall out..the hair will loose its natural beauty and its hard to comb your hair..it is better to care your hair in a natural way...

For the record I have very curly black hair and i had a perm...when i was thirteen...at first it seemed "great"..because your hair is straight and everyone thinks that is what they are supposed to have...the reality of it is not everyone is supposed to have straight hair...it made my hair thin....i had to go very often to the beauty parlor to clip ends...deep condition....and re-straighten my hair....It is not worth it honey....there are way too many chemicals in hair straighteners....your scalp, eyes, ears are all in danger of getting burned when the chemical is placed in your hair...whether the person is a licensed hairdresser or not...

Bottom line...love your hair....love yourself......
