How do you keep hair healthy - but not too healthy?

I shampoo regularly using Finesse Shampoo and Conditioner (separately) or Garnier Fruictuse Shampoo and conditioner -separately (the one in the bright green bottle). How much conditioner should you use without overdoing it - as in putting too much in), and I also use shaping mousse, volumizing mousse, hair gel, hair milk by Garnier Fruictuse (the apple scented one in the green bottle), and hairspray - but not all at the same time; even though sometimes I do. What would make the hair too healthy or unhealthy? I'm trying to get it to shine - that is no problem - stay smooth, with a little curl - to try and control flyaways, and overall look good. I have fine shoulder-length straight brunette hair. Any ideas or suggestions?

well sounds kind of like mine but when you use the conditioner make sure that you use about a quarter sized amount and only rub it in on the bottom half of your hair. if you put it too close up at your scalp it will weigh it down and make it look greasy. but you can use the conditioner everyday as long as you dont over do it. same with the hair milk its good for the frizzies but only use a little bit. you dont want to look like you have dirty hair. and try and go easy on the products just find ONE that work good because the more products you use the more it makes your hair weigh and make it flat in the end!

To keep the hair healthy, you need adequate protein and b-vitamins and a healthy diet, reduce your stress, and avoid combing it while its wet.Hair care products that are from a health food store and free of chemicals are the best for your hair.

Every once in a while you need to use a clarifying shampoo that will clense all the product out of your hair.

use panthene shampoo and conditioner... its the best! Don't use a straightener too much, and watch out with the hair spray... not too much. Oh and I read that using bottled wqter to wash your hair before special occasions helps too.

One thing that you're doing wrong is washing your hair regularly. Wash your hair and wash it again 3 or 4 days later to get it really oily. What you're doing wrong is drying your hair out.

When you have thick and curly hair and u want taking out nots to be easy, you should put water in ur hair while u have conditioner in ur hair to make it a lot easier. It really works!!!

First mistake: Do NOT wash hair every day. It needs it's natural nutrients and oils. Every time you wash, you remove them.

Conditioner should only be applied on the TIPS not the roots...too much oil.

No gel! It thins you hair.

Take Vitamin for Hair and Nails. 3 times a day at your local vitamin shop. Works wonders!

Drink lots of water, stay healthy, don't smoke, don't do drugs and your hair will be great. Seriously. Your hair is an extension of your body, just like your nails.

You have FINE hair then for sure slow down on the gels and sprays and conditioner...only on tips.

BRUSH BRUSH BRUSH...every night before you go to bed. Women did it 100 times a night in the Old South...so why not try that...it's free.

You also should change shampoos %26amp; conditions every 3rd time or so. Try a good (expensive) brand for once a month. I use K-Pak hair 'reconstructor' once a week and I shampoo my hair every day or two. But, I always change to a different brand every month.

Stay away from gels and sprays. They cause hair to break and dry out. Rinse out shampoo and conditioner well. Just dont do too much to your hair or it'll hate you and wont cooperate.

I wash my hair once a week(Pantene Pro-v rocks!!). and i use lotions and heat on it once a week. I stay away from gels and hairspray. and i comb often(to avoid tangles and breakage).

Doing all this, i've managed to get healthy LONG hair that even my stylist gives me kudos for =)

dont put so much product, if you want a little curl while keeping it healthy, after a shower towel dry and rub a dime sized drop of hair milk in your hands, then comb your fingers through your hair and scrunch, givs it more of a natural look, and your not over doing it

I don't know if this helps but try using shampoo that doesn't wash away "good Oil" like dove shampoo, and only condition the bottom half of your hair. It keeps my hair soft and shinny without having to put all sorts of other products in it.

Keep your hair washed and dont put so much heat to it it.

Whn you wash your hair while it is wet apply choestrol. It can be bought in like a gel container most types can be called carrot extract but it is the same. Then put on one of those plastic cap thingys and sit under the drier for about 15 min. then was all the choestrol out and wrap your have using greese or an condition hair lotion and let hair air dry.

i am in cosmetology school have been in there for a year n you shouldnt bleach your hair, you should use Redken shampoo n conditioner, they have all kinds just choose which ever you like, wash 2 times n condition 1, use alot of shampoo the 1 round n then about a nickle size amount the second time, nickle size conditioner as well, i cant use conditioner cuz my hair stays nasty from it, anyways n you should wash it with WHITE vinager (sp) it helps strenghten the roots.

Well thats a mouth full but thats what i learned in school, try it for 2 weeks n see.

Hope it works.

Oh n dont blow dry it EVERY time you wash.

Don't wash it every day - that'll help stop it being flyaway. Try every other day or every couple of days if you can - get into a routine to prevent stripping your hair of its minerals and moisture. I tend to alternate shampoos too, one hairdresser told me that if you use the same shampoo for a long period of time your hair will in effect become immune to it and it won't have much of an effect - mainly leaving the hair looking dull. If your using a lot of heat on your hair consider putting some kind of protector on it before you dry it, or even get a heat or conditioning treatment done at a hairdressers. For brunette hair I love John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette, it leaves your hair soft, shiny and easy to style.

You should give the Paul Mitchell products a shot. I switch from the protein line, purple bottles to the skinny line, green bottles weekly. The protein stuff makes hair thick and healthy while the skinny stuff makes moisture stay and shine happen. For styling buy a light leave-in conditioner and a body foam, plus flexible hairspray for that special hot date. Use a clarifying shampoo every two weeks for build-up that drags hair down. Remember to give your hair a break from the hot styling tools.
