How do u straighten your hair with an iron and not have it smell?

I use a straightening iron about once or twice a week, but it always makes my hair smell burned. I tried covering it with body sprays, but you can still smell the hair. Any ideas?

put in a gel or straightening creme before you straighten your hair i use ultra straight gel on all of my clients before i flat iron their hair. it will keep you hair healthy, shiny, and most importantly smelling fresh.

put a serum in your hair a day before you starighten it .. so your straighner has something else to burn other than your hair

This is not a good sign. There's a very good possibility that you:

1) are using bad (or too many) products

2) need to TURN DOWN the heat

3) need a better straightener

Make sure your hair is dry before straightening, as well - This is very important to prevent damage.

you just need to put a pre-heat or heat protectant product in your hair. Any will do really. It will steam a lot, but not smell :)

My sister had the same problem. She would put hair spray or styling spray in her hair and the sticky film from the spray would stay on it. Her hair would smell burnt or the bathroom would smell like burnt hair for a while. What she did was when it cools down she would wash it with a damp cloth and wipe off the excess hair spray on the iron which was causing the smell. The next time you straighten your hair, it should be all good! Oh, and whatever you do please use the lowest setting. The high heat may be causing the smell as well. I know that it might take a while for the low heat the straighten your hair but trust me your hair will thank you later!! :)

when u straighten ur hair, it dries out all the liquid in ur hair. if it smells, it's burning the oil on ur hair, which means u just need to have clean hair.
